How Do I Update to Detail in Studio

Already own Topaz Detail? As always, the update from Detail 3 to Detail in Studio is 100% free, as part of your free upgrades for life! Follow the Instructions below to Redeem the “Detail Pack” in Studio, (the Precision Detail and Channel Mixer Adjustments)

 

You’ll need to download and install Topaz Studio (a FREE application) to use the Detail in Studio update.

If you are just getting started with Topaz Studio, please see the Download section at the end of the article.

NOTE: you will need Topaz Studio installed to claim your free Detail Pack of Adjustment (Precision Contrast and Channel Mixer) that make up Detail in Studio.

Follow the steps below to get the update:

 

Step 1: Confirm Ownership

First, you’ll want to confirm you already own Topaz Detail. You can confirm ownership by checking your Topaz Labs account here:

Step 2: Login to Topaz Studio Account

Once you have confirmed ownership, CREATE AN ACCOUNT in Topaz Studio with the same existing Topaz Labs account information. If you already have a Studio account, you can simply login:

Step 3: Access Topaz Studio

Download and install the latest version of Topaz Studio. Click here for specific instructions. Once you have launched Topaz Studio, successfully logged in, OPENED an image, and selected Detail from the Workflow panel on the left, you’ll see the new interface!

Step 4: Validate Plugins

We have added a new menu option to provide you with the Detail pack, containing the Precision Detail and Channel Mixer Adjustments. You will need to validate the Detail plugin to claim Detail in Studio

Step 5: Validation Complete

The Topaz Studio application will check your Plugins Account page for you, and add Detail in Studio to your Topaz Studio Account. You will now have full access to Detail as a set of both the Precision Detail and Channel Mixer adjustments.

If i own Detail do I have to purchase Detail in Studio?

No, As always, the update from Detail 3 Plugin to Detail in Studio is 100% free, as part of your free upgrades for life! Does this Update the Detail 3 Standalone Plugin?

No, this is an upgrade to a newer version of Detail that’s only available through Topaz Studio. You can still happily use the Detail 3 plugin, but the updates we made are not possible inside of that old engine. If you’d prefer not to use Studio or forgo the upgrade you may continue to use Detail 3, however, Detail 3 won’t be updated further. All future updates to Detail will be made to Detail in Studio.

Why is it only available as an upgrade in Topaz Studio?

The short answer is:
The updates we made to Detail were not possible to create inside of that old engine. Even if we updated Detail to use the new engine, as a standalone product, it would be the same thing you get with Detail in Studio, but without access to the rest of the tools available in Studio.

It would also significantly slow down your workflow, be use instead of using the integrated toolset you’d still have to launch each new product as a standalone product, then render back into the application as a flattened image, it’s much slower and less flexible.

The Long Answer:
We understand being comfortable with a specific interface, and not wanting to adopt a new workflow.  That’s why we’ve gone to extra lengths to ensure you can still launch your plugins directly from your preferred host editor, pushing Studio to the background.  However, standalone launch will require Studio for any product that gets the In Studio designation, like Clarity in Studio and Impression In Studio.

This change was necessary to allow continued development of Topaz products.  Free updates is a costly promise to keep, and we’re committed to keeping it.  However, there’s not a lot we can do with the old model – it was extremely expensive and slow to work on.  So slow and expensive, that with our highest profits, we were still only able to get about 3 to 5 major updates released a year.  This change enables us to update products simultaneously, as well as speed up processing simultaneously when we find an improvement we can make to the engine.

Sure, there’s benefit to having one application do just one thing.  But we believe delivering a workflow that is responsive to our customer’s needs takes priority over the individual application model and its specific benefits.  We are very aware that our strengths have long lied in our ability to do very specific editing, very well.  We intend to continue that effort.

We can’t convince you to update.  We’ll keep hosting the previous version on the Previous Versions page, if you need to re-download the previous version for any reason.  However, all new development to our product lines will take place in Studio.  We’re doing our best to introduce our customers to the latest technology we’re working on, and that delivery is really only possible through the Topaz Studio framework.

I've Updated but i'm not seeing Detail in the Workflow panel.

The most likely cause for this is that your database isn’t syncing, you can trigger this manually by restarting the Topaz Studio application again.

The program is not displaying correctly on my 4k monitor.

Your resolution is detected in Topaz Studio when you first run the application, but sometimes this doesn’t apply on the first run, this is a known issue we’re working on resolving. Please close and relaunch Topaz Studio and it should solve this problem.

    I’ve owned Detail 3 for years and this frustrating Studio update process doesn’t recognize that fact. I hate this process!

    Hi .

    Thank you for this information.
    I confirm I own Topaz Detail as part of Topaz Photography Collection I bought last year. In Studio, I did do Validate Plug-Ins, Sync Adjustments and restart Topaz Studio, but I still don’t have access to Precision Detail and Channel Mixer adjustments.
    Any idea what I did wrong in the upgrade process?

    I own Detail 3.2 from my Plugin bundle .I did not Purchase the Bundle Directly from them.
    Plugin is activated Though Studio is not showing I own it..

    I have updated Studio and the Detail option is showing OK. But when I click on Detail I get the following message.

    Sorry, We could not find any results for: Detail.

    I also have an outstanding query that Clarity is not showing up in the panel in Studio.

    Same problem here: I’m an owner of Topaz Detail 3 (as part of the Topaz Bundle) and did follow the activation instructions step by step.
    But still no Detail under Speciality.

    In the Adjustements I can choose Precision Detail and Channel mixer, but both have none of their presets shown.

    Has anyone got this to work? As Christian noted above, I have logged in to my Studio account, gone through the validation process and been told that it was successful, have a notification along the lines of “Welcome to Topaz Studio 1.3 Now with Precision Detail and Channel Mixer Adjustment, Topaz Detail in Studio and more!” I have done synch adjustments and restarted Studio several times. Under Adjustments I have Precision Detail, Channel Mixer and Impression listed, but no sign of Clarity. However, under plug-ins (or anywhere else) there appears to be no sign of Detail in Studio, Impression in Studio or Clarity in Studio – just the norma Impression 2, Clarity, Detail 3 etcl. I’m confused – is my setup the way it should be or am I missing bits, and if so, why and how do I fix it? I should perhaps note that I have purchased every Topaz plugin and the Pro Adjustments for Studio, and I have to say that the new updating processes for Studio seem to be extremely complicated. Can we possibly go back to the previous system where checking for updates just went ahead and installed them without all this validating and synching etc? Topaz make fantastic products, but the latest moves have apparently introduced significant problems for many users.

    I have trouble every time there is a new update for Studio. The update always fails and then I can’t remove it to reinstall. I have to keep adding new sub-directories since the original get corrupted and can’t be deleted! Help! I love the product but, this is getting old.

    Congratulations on a (mostly) smooth transition path to Studio. Everything was fine with Clarity and Impression. My presets for both were automatically imported.
    However none of the presets I’ve saved over the years in Detail show up at all in Studio.
    What’s more I see no way of importing them manually. Is there a reason for this?

    I ran Studio for the first time and found Detail in the left side panel. It seems to be there (I own all the plugins) and the Validation in the Help menu was grayed out so I didn’t have to do that step. I used it on a picture and it seem to work ok though a bit differently. I was signed to my Topaz account and I didn’t have to download it separately either.

    1. I purchased for $99.99 the Adjustment Propack. Now, after reviewing my accounts I found that Topaz charged my $7.50 for the exact same items…and it is called the Adjustment Pro Pack….WHY did I pay the extra $7.50 for the same items….I could have saved $99.99 you check my accounts and see if they jibe…they certainly don’t with me……..

    2….also, recently, Order 144117 noted that I received Edges and Quad Tone at no charge…is Exposure Edge the same as Edges? I don’t have Quad Tones as stated in the order stated.

    3. Still though, why did I pay $99.99 for a package when the $7.50 package the same…?????Hope you can help….William Collins
